SPAIN´S DOWNTURN WITH COVID-19

As a result of LOCKDOWN over the past 3 weeks it looks like Spain is flattening the curve of the virus.

The number of deaths has fallen for a third consecutive day, a sign that Spain is beating the (COVID-19) pandemic. Last Saturday the count was 749 and on Sunday a total of 694 people lost their battle with coronavirus (COVID-19). This is in comparison to 850 deaths announced on Friday.

Although the total death toll is 12,641 the infection rate has also seen a downturn and is dropping by over 1000 plus just over the past few days. Friday's amount was 7,472 while on Saturday it was 7,026 and 6,023 cases were announced on Sunday.

RELAXING LOCKDOWN IS NOT AN OPTION FOR SPAIN

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on Saturday told the nation that Spain has finally got "in a position to bend the curve".

He explained in a press conference that there will be an extension to the lockdown from the original date April 12 (Easter Sunday) has been cancelled. A new date has been added to April 26 - but he warned, Spain is slowly on its way to recovery but not there just yet. He said: "If the climb has been hard, let's not fool ourselves, the descent will also not be smooth, we are all facing the greatest crisis of our lives."

The Spanish total number of coronavirus (COVID-19) infections stands now at 131,646, the amount that has recovered is 34,219 while 12,641 people have lost their lives so far.

Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez explained in the conference that any consideration of relaxing these tight lockdown measures at this point "would have a worse result than returning to the starting point," So we have no choice but to extend the lockdown for the safety of all our citizens.
