Spanish properties still highly in demand

Brexit has brought some uncertainty as well as some implications towards Brits moving overseas but despite this, there has been strong interest from many foreign buyers looking to relocate to Spain recently reported by real estate agents, property portals and also building contractors alike. Many have said that enquiries are even higher than in the past year to date, as Spain’s property market is still growing to meet the ever-increasing demand of foreign investors. As a result of COVID-19 and travel restrictions people have time to sit and think of their futures, the pandemic has opened their minds and made them realise that they could enjoy a second home in the sun. With many people now not being able to go to work, remote working is now emerging as the way forward in selling properties.

Taking this in mind it has opened many people’s eyes as combining work from a second home that may be abroad would also benefit them immensely. For those with a second home in Spain and only using it for a few weeks of the year, remote working could be a great option. With the possibility of working from a sunnier climate and also staying for a longer extended period of time, working remotely and earning a living, it’s a win-win situation.

As the world is rolling out a vaccine to combat COVID-19 there is some optimism in regards of the Spanish property market, with ever-increasing enquiries for new and resale properties all over Spanish mainland and also the Balearic Islands. Property portals have reported a 50% rise in buyer enquiries over the first five-day period of 2021 from the same period the previous year. With British English-speaking enquiries topping 20% of them all, this is up 65% from 2020. Large property developers have also reported a 30% increase in the first two-week period with enquiries from Brits looking to buy new modern or resale properties in Spain, this is compared to the same period in 2020.
