Alicante Sees Record-Breaking Demand for Cruises in 2025

Alicante’s port is experiencing an unprecedented surge in cruise tourism, positioning the city as a key Mediterranean destination. In 2024, nearly 240,000 cruise passengers arrived in Alicante aboard approximately 100 ships, generating an estimated €60 million for the local economy.
Projections for 2025 suggest even greater numbers, with over 100 cruise calls expected to bring in around 250,000 passengers. A significant portion of these are luxury cruises, attracting high-spending tourists eager to explore Alicante’s cultural and historical attractions.
The cruise season, spanning ten months from March 2 to December 31, is set to provide a major economic boost. Excursions to landmarks such as the Castle of Santa Bárbara, the Central Market, and the Basilica of Santa María remain popular, while nearby destinations like Benidorm, Elche, and Torrevieja continue to attract visitors.

Alicante’s growth as a cruise hub is the result of strategic collaboration between the Port Authority, the Costa Blanca Provincial Board, and the Costa Blanca Association for Cruise Tourism. Their joint efforts have led to a 35% increase in cruise arrivals compared to previous years.
With its expanding infrastructure and growing reputation, Alicante is cementing its place as a premier luxury cruise destination in the Mediterranean.
